Boys to
Men-tors
Boys to Men-tors is a support group that helps boys ages 10-17, who have been or are at risk for being engaged with the juvenile justice system, learn skills to navigate their life circumstances and positively envision a future of their choosing.
Participants work with a mentor in one-on-one or group settings to better understand themselves and their relationships with family and friends. Activities are intentionally designed to help participants recognize and articulate personal feelings and strengths; enhance social skills; learn how to cope with stressful and pressured situations; address mental health concerns; and build resiliency.
About the Program
This unique programming utilizes music, documentaries, poetry, drawing, role playing, and other hands-on activities to support self-expression and encourage openness and communication.
Programming lasts the duration of the school year (at least 9 months each year), is delivered in a variety of formats and schedules, and utilizes a customizable curriculum to meet the needs of individual participants and partner organizations served.
Ultimately, participants engage in meaningful and supportive relationships with their mentor and learn to make positive, future oriented decisions.
Here’s The Impact We’re Building Together:
Participants learn the language, social norms, and attitudes that help them move confidently through peer interactions and the broader world around them. We create space for them to explore their emotions, understand how those feelings shape their choices and behaviors, and reflect on their identity: where they’ve been, where they are now, and what’s possible for their future. Ultimately, we aim to strengthen their engagement in high school and set them up for long‑term success.
